The agreement signed between parties will see Translucidus acting as Havkraft’s country representative in Oman.

As part of the agreement, the companies will work closely together to introduce wave energy technology as one of sustainable and green power generation systems in the country.

Havkraft has developed two types of wave energy plants, based on oscillating water column (OWC) technology. The first is the Havkraft N-Class power plants, which are fitted for nearshore locations, while the Havkraft O-Class is more suitable for offshore operations.

Both products are based on the Havkraft Wave Energy Converter (H-WEC) design, and equipped with Bosch permanent magnet generators.

As Offshore Energy understands, the N-Class type of Havkraft’s wave energy power plants is the most suitable wave energy solution for Oman, and similar countries.

Geir Arne Solheim, Havkraft’s CEO, said: “Oman has an interesting coastline that can be utilized by our wave power plants to create important values for the Sultanate.”

Matt Minshall, owner of Translucidus, added: “Working with Havkraft’s innovative capability and their dynamic team is both enjoyable and meaningful.

“The supply of clean energy and clean water are two of the most important sustainable development goals we should deliver on, and wave power is an important key to both. We are delighted to be a part of this emerging new sector.”
