Heerema Fabrication Group Opens New Fabrication Facility in Poland

Heerema Fabrication Group (HFG), a leading engineering and fabrication contractor, announced the opening of their new fabrication facility in the south of Poland, Opole. The official opening of the facility is performed by Mr Pieter Heerema.

The growing demand of qualified prefabrication of small offshore steel structures and substructures for HFG’s fabrication yards and the need for better facilities in Poland have contributed to the decision for a new built facility. This new facility meets the high quality and safety standards applicable in the oil & gas industry as well as Heerema Fabrication Group’s commitment to deliver high-quality standard products and to provide an injury free fabrication environment. The construction of the new facility started in March 2013.

Established in 2008, HFG Polska is located in Opole, in the south of Poland, on the banks of the river Odra. It is located on an industrial estate adjacent to an inland harbour, enabling transport by inland waterway. It is also accessible by road and rail transport.

HFG Polska is specialised in the fabrication of complex small steel structures mainly used in offshore production platforms. These constructions include: plate girders, conductor guides, nodes, staircases and other more complex structures. All workers at HFG Polska are trained to the highest safety and quality standards of the Heerema Fabrication Group. The welders, fitters and general steelworkers alternate between working on site and the three larger HFG fabrication yards situated around the North Sea. This creates a stable social structure for our people and a skilled and reliable workforce for the company.

The state-of-the-art covered fabrication hall measures 120 metres in length, 32 metres in width and 16 metres in height.

Koos-Jan van Brouwershaven, CEO of Heerema Fabrication Group says: “Today we open a state-of-the-art fabrication shop for our Polish employees. This facility was built in an impressive 6 month period. The Euro 6 million investment shows our long term commitment to the Opole area, our workers and their families.” He continues: “This new facility fabricates small steel structures mainly used in our projects at the Heerema Fabrication Group yards. It also allows us to train and develop our Polish workforce in our ongoing commitment to our customers to deliver high-quality standard products at a competitive pricing level and an injury free fabrication environment whether they work at the new facility in Poland or at one of our yards located around the North Sea.”
