Business & Finance

Chinese shipbuilder Hongqiang Heavy Industry has confirmed an order to build six 3,500 dwt bulk carriers to service East Asian markets.

The shipbuilder said that the contract to build the six bulkers came into force after the company received a down payment from an unnamed client on May 28.

Hongqiang Heavy did not disclose the value of the contract, nor when the bulkers are expected for delivery.

The vessels will be 80 meters long, 13.4 meters wide, with a draft of 7.5 meters, suitable to carry steel cargoes, the shipbuilder said on its website.

Korean Register will class the six newbuilds.
