French Polynesia’s government to eliminate taxes on cruise ships

French Polynesian President Oscar Temaru’s government wants to eliminate taxes on cruise ships to ensure Tahiti and its neighbouring islands become a permanent fixture on the cruise intinerary. The government’s Council of Ministers has approved a project that would mean the loss of hundreds of thousands of US dollars in tax revenue from cruise ships based in Tahiti. The project will now go to the French Polynesia Assembly for a vote.
