Lerwick dredging to cost SIC £5.25m

Shetland Islands Council (SIC) is being asked to pay more than £5 million towards the biggest harbour dredging contract in the islands’ history after losing a legal battle against the work going ahead.

Yesterday (Wednesday) Lerwick Port Authority (LPA) announced they had awarded a contract to Hampshire-based Westminster Dredging Company to remove almost 500,000 cubic metres of seabed next year.
