Flagler Beach may test alternative methods to beach erosion

City Commissioner John Feind said he still needs some answers before he’ll back any one option to keep the city’s beach from eroding away. He wants to know how much an alternative to dredging will cost including all of the permitting and planning, and he wants to know what all of his options are for choosing the best strategy. In front of a full City Hall commission chamber on Thursday night, commissioners voted 5-0 to ask the state Department of Environmental Protection for part of $2 million tagged for experimental beach restoration projects.
