AET adds two newbuild product tankers to its clean fleet

Continuing its expansion into the clean markets, AET formally accepted two newbuild 6,600dwt product tankers into its fleet at a naming ceremony in Haydarpasa Port, Istanbul on 7 August 2010.

AET Sanjar and AET Nissa were built by the Okskaya Sudoverf Joint Stock Company in Russia and are sisters to AET Gala, delivered earlier this year. All three vessels are owned by AET and flagged in the Marshall Islands.

The two new vessels were named by Datin Sharifah Salwa and Datin Roi Hanah, wives of Dato’ Shamsul Azhar Abbas, Chairman of AET, and Datuk Nasarudin Mohd Idris, Deputy Chairman of AET.

Speaking at the naming ceremony, Hor Weng Yew, AET President & CEO commented: “With these new vessels joining us today, our fleet now stands at 76 vessels with a combined capacity of more than 9 million dwt. The continued growth of our clean fleet is a central pillar supporting our plans to become the world’s leading petroleum tanker operator and these new vessels mark another step on that journey.”
