Fishing vessel Norqueen taking on water in Southeast Alaska

The 110-foot tender packer Norqueen, based out of Vancouver, B.C., is taking on water near the southwest side of Baranof Island in Southeast Alaska. The Coast Guard received notification of the situation around 7:19 a.m. A Coast Guard HH-60 Jayhawk helicopter and crew was dispatched from Air Station Sitka to drop two dewatering pumps to the vessel. Using the pumps the vessel’s three man crew is keeping up with the flow of water. The crew of the Norqueen believes the water is coming in through a split plank in the vessel’s wooden hull.
