Fishing boat sinks, leaks fuel in Morro Bay

MORRO BAY, Calif. – A fishing boat on Thursday spewed hundreds of gallons of diesel fuel into the ocean after it took on water and sank, authorities said.

Authorities responded shortly before 6 a.m. to the boat, which had been moored to a pier, said Coast Guard Chief Kirk McKay. The 50-foot vessel was completely submerged when crews arrived and had leaked about 300 to 400 gallons of diesel fuel, McKay said.
