Rig upgrade work for Global

Global Energy Group has landed two rig maintenance contracts, worth £12 million (US $24m), with work to be carried out at the Port of Invergordon.

Global has already carried out general maintenance on the John Shaw drilling rig over 35 days, while new crane installations and various upgrade works on the Ocean Guardian are also expected to last 35 days.

Roy MacGregor, Chairman of the Global Energy Group said, “We recently completed the work on the John Shaw drilling rig. This project alone required 70 of our own personnel plus more than 100 sub contractors.

“Our efficiency in delivering this contract has resulted in the arrival of the Ocean Guardian rig to Invergordon for upgrading. This project will require increased manning levels and bring further economic benefit to the Cromarty Firth, whilst keeping the Invergordon port very busy over the coming months.”
