Two limited editions ‘Amels 171’ Superyachts sold

Exciting New Amels 52-Meter Makes Dazzling Debut !

Amels, member of the Damen Shipyards Group and builder of nearly 30 custom superyachts, is pleased to announce that it has sold the first two LIMITED EDITIONS 52-meter ‘Amels 171′ models currently under construction. Since Amels introduced the LIMITED EDITIONS concept in Monaco last September, interest from clients and brokers has been extremely strong. As a result, contracts for the first two AMELS 171s were signed in December 2005 and January 2006, just a few months after computer drawings, renderings, specifications, and a scale model were revealed to the public and press.

LIMITED EDITIONS are yachts built on exclusive platforms of Amels’ naval architecture and engineering. This allows clients who enter a project to avoid the time-consuming first phase of technical design and specification, which can take one year or more, and to focus on personalizing a yacht under construction to their taste. Amels has been a leader in the field of delivering yachts built on standardized platforms, having launched six of the extraordinary ‘Tigre d’Or Series’ between 1997 and 2004.

The Amels 171, the first of the LIMITED EDITIONS line, has a powerfully contemporary exterior by Tim Heywood, and a warmly eclectic interior by Laura Sessa. But the flexibility of Amels’ concept allows wide options. For the first 171 hull the client has asked that part of the interior be designed by another architect of his choice; for the second hull Amels has widened the bridge deck saloon, converting it into a ‘wide body’ version. Both yachts are due for delivery in spring 2007, so even with these variations both clients will experience a reduction in development time of one year or more, compared to a full custom design and build.
