Next ship in LPD series christened

Under a light rain, the wife of a Marine Corps general smashed a champagne bottle into the hull of the future USS Green Bay, christening the 684-foot warship during ceremonies at a New Orleans-area shipyard on the Mississippi River.

“In honor of the great city of Green Bay and in the name of the United States of America, I christen the Green Bay,” said Rose Mary Magnus, wife of Gen. Robert Magnus. “May God bless this ship and all who sail in her.”
