Shipyard’s future to be discussed

Politicians from different parties have come together to discuss plans for the future of a troubled shipyard.
In July, the Ministry of Defence said the unfinished ship Lyme Bay would be handed over from Swan Hunter, in Wallsend, to BAE Systems, at Govan.

It said the decision was down to an increase in costs and delays.

Both the Labour and Liberal Democrats groups on Newcastle City Council have backed a motion to support a group exploring job creation at Swan Hunter.
