Cargo vessel sinks in Ctg port channel

A lighter vessel carrying huge quantity of imported wheat sank in the Chittagong Port channel last evening.

Sources said the MV Shah Badar-1 loaded with 1,400 tonnes of wheat sank near jetty No. 15 while entering the port from the Red Buoy in the outer bar area of the port around 9:00pm.

Another passing vessel, MV Titu, was able to rescue all the 13 crews of MV Shah Badar-1.

A rescue team led by a high official of Chittagong Port Marine Department immediately rushed to the spot.
