Four boaters who abandoned ship are now on dry land

The four boaters who abandoned ship earlier this week after their sailboat hit a whale are back on dry land.

They arrived this morning in Honolulu aboard a fishing vessel that helped with the rescue. The rescued boaters arrived on Pier 38 aboard the Kami M. And for one of them this was truly a homecoming. david smith is a honolulu resident, and his wife donna waited eagerly for his safe arrival. Nick Barran says he thought they had gone past the pod of whales when all of a sudden, one came up and hit the port side, or the left side, of their boat.
