ICCE 2018 Takes Place in Baltimore

The 36th edition of the International conference on coastal engineering ICCE 2018 will take place in Baltimore, MD, from 30 July – 3 August.

Central theme of the conference will be the present state of the art and science of coastal engineering.

The biannual conference is held under the auspices of the Coastal Engineering Research Council (CERC) of the Coasts, Oceans, Ports and Rivers Institute (COPRI).

The goal of the ICCE is to promote academic and technical exchange on coastal related studies covering a wide range of topics including coastal waves, nearshore currents, coastal structures, sediment transport, coastal morphology, beach nourishment, natural hazards and coastal management.

The first conference was held in Long Beach, USA in 1950. The most recent 2016-edition took place in Antalya, Turkey, in November, where the scientific focal points of the major research areas of coastal engineering were discussed.

For the 2018 edition, the special topics will include:

  • Coastal hydrodynamics processes;
  • Coastal sediment processes;
  • Coastal, shore and estuarine structures;
  • Ports, harbors and waterways;
  • Coastal environment and management.
