IKM Testing bags Johan Sverdrup commissioning contract

IKM Testing Spain has been awarded a new commissioning contract with engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) company Dragados Offshore for work on Statoil’s Johan Sverdrup living quarters (LQ).

IKM said on Friday that the scope of the contract with Dragados Offshore includes prefabrication and testing at a workshop for Flooding and Grouting systems as well as testing of flooding systems, grippers, and J-tubes.

The contract between IKM Testing’s Spanish entity and Dragados entails installation of flooding and grouting systems, grippers, lower spreader bar, J-tubes and a barge bumper.

The value of the work to be done on the Johan Sverdrup LQ was not disclosed, but IKM said that it would take about five months to complete.

The field itself, located on the Utsira Height 140 kilometers west of Stavanger in the North Sea, is operated by Statoil with 40.0267% interest. Its partners are Lundin with 22.6% interest, Petoro with 17.36%, Aker BP with 11.5733%, and Maersk Oil with 8.44% interest.

The Johan Sverdrup field will be developed using four fixed platforms connected by bridges. Production from the field is expected to begin in 2019.

Earlier this month Aker BP reported a decrease in estimated investment costs with current estimates for the first phase at NOK 97 billion from NOK 123 billion while the full-field investment estimate improved from NOK 208 billion in 2015 to a current estimate of NOK 137-152 billion.
