IMarEST Wins ‘Best Maritime Organization’ Award (U.A.E)

The Institute of Marine Engineering, Science and Technology (IMarEST) has been presented with the ‘Best Maritime Organization’ Award at the 5th Marine BizTV International Maritime Awards ceremony held in Dubai, and marking the close of ShipTek 2011.

 

This award recognizes a non profit organization, large or small, that has demonstrated sustained and superlative achievements, and has accomplished outstanding success over a sustained period of time, exhibited leadership in various maritime issues of importance, demonstrated integrity in its dealings, including financial management, and made appropriate efforts to be inclusive in the composition of its board, staff, membership and programs’ reads the citation.

David Short CEng, CMarEng, FIMarEST, a Vice President of IMarEST was delighted to accept the Award on behalf of the Institute at the Awards Ceremony that attracted some 500 guests. “It is good to have our efforts recognized like this,” he says. “IMarEST is well known in the region, and in recent years we have been involved with an increasing number of events here, as well as a membership drive, which has seen the number of members grow. We have certainly seen ever-greater attendance at our annual functions and technical events.”

The IMarEST Dubai branch in the UAE, one of the branches in IMarEST’s Middle East Division, is very active with members from a number of marine areas such as shipping, energy, manufacturing, ship repair, surveying, and classification. The branch organises technical events by leading speakers on topical events. Regular technical and social events are very well attended and provide the basis of information exchange, social and business networking.
