Man Dies in Tank of Dredger Omkara Prem

The officials are investing an incident involving a mechanical fitter who apparently died of suffocation while cleaning the tank of the dredger Omkara Prem, docked at Western India Shipyard Limited (WISL), reports indiatimes.com.

Regarding this accident, Milan Burman, the Senior Manager of WISL, stated: “We are waiting for the post mortem report to know the exact cause of the death.

Ramesh Sharma, a 45-year-old mechanical fitter, was immediately transported to a private hospital at Baina where he was declared brought dead, according to indiatimes.com.

“It is suspected that the deceased must have inhaled a lot of carbon dioxide due to lack of oxygen, which proved fatal for him,” stated S. Paranjape, Chief Inspector of Factories and Boilers, and added that once the post-mortem and the inquiry report are handed over to him, they would know what exactly went wrong in the tank.
