India: ONGC Finds Gas in Tripura

The flagship E&P Company ONGC has recently made another significant gas discovery in the north eastern state of Tripura in well AD # 30.

The well located on the northwest flank of Agartala Dome in Agartala PML of Assam-Arakan Basin was drilled to a depth of 3515 m.

On testing, one of its sand zone flowed gas @ 1,13,400 m3/day through 8 mm bean.

The success of this well has opened up the intervening low area between Agartala and Konaban structures and also gives impetus to exploration of more such areas on the flanks of major structures in Tripura fold belt.

The discovery has been already notified to DGH.

Commending this discovery, Shri A K Hazarika, CMD, ONGC said,This discovery will go a long way as far as our target of 5.5 million cubic meter per day of gas production for fuelling the ONGC Tripura Power Gas Company (OTPC) project is concerned”.
