India set for Qatari LNG cargo

Qatar, the world’s largest LNG producer, sent a cargo of the chilled gas from Ras Laffan port to India on Monday.

RasGas’ chartered Ejnan with a capacity of 145,000 cbm is expected to arrive at Petronet’s Dahej LNG terminal on September 3, according to shipping data.

Petronet buys 7.5 million tonnes of LNG per year from RasGas under a 25-year contract the two companies signed in 1999.

However, India’s largest LNG importer has this year deferred taking deliveries of several cargoes from Qatar as it is seeking a lower price for the chilled gas it imports.
