Island Constructor Set for Draugen Job

Norske Shell has received consent from the Petroleum Safety Authority (PSA) Norway for the use of riserless light well intervention (RLWI) vessel, Island Constructor, for the start-up of well 6407/9-G-5 on the Draugen field.

Draugen is an oil field in the Norwegian Sea in 250 metres of water, around 150 km north of Kristiansund.

The field has been developed using a fixed concrete facility with an integrated deck. Stabilised oil is stored in tanks in the base of the facility.

Designed by Ulstein Design AS (Ulstein SX 121) and launched in February 2008 from the Ulstein Verft shipyards in Norway, the Island Constructor (Hull no. 279) is operated by Island Offshore.

The vessel received the PSA’s Acknowledgement of Compliance (AoC) in September 2010.

According to PSA, operations are planned for start-up in August/September 2017.
