Italy: Cargo Ship Slams into Control Tower, Kills Three

Three people have died and four have been hospitalized after a cargo ship, identified as Jolly Nero of the Italian shipping line Ignazio Messina & C., crashed into a control tower on Tuesday night at around  23:00 in the Italian port of Genoa, BBC News reports citing Italian media.

Accordingly, ten people were in the tower at the moment of the crash, some are believed to be trapped in the tower and up to six people are said to be missing.

The 40,500 tonne ship was exiting the port with the assistance of tugboats when the accident occurred.

The investigation is in progress to establish the cause of the collision.
