Rosetti Marino Delivers New PSV to Fratelli D’Amato

Rosetti Marino SpA of Ravenna has delivered to Fratelli D’Amato SpA of Naples the new Platform Supply Vessel “FD UNBEATABLE”, the newest arrival presented by the Ravenna shipbuilder headed by Medardo Ranieri, built for the Shipping Company owned by Mr. Luigi D’Amato.

Before taking on its current name, the UNBEATABLE was registered at the Ravenna Harbour Master’s Office with the temporary name of “C. 108 Rosetti”.

Over 7 metres longer than its previous eight “sisters”, the specs for the Unbeatable are: length 82 m; beam 16 m; deadweight 3400t; propulsion 2 variable pitch propellers, each approximately 3 metres in diameter and set at the end of shafts driven by 2 General Electric 5580 kW, 7600 HP diesel engines.

Peak speed is around 14.0 knots, range 3500 miles; great manoeuvrability is guaranteed by 4 bow-thrusters driven by the on-board computer. Moreover, new to this vessel is a “dual-frequency” device able to achieve an approximate 10% fuel savings during transfers, when travelling in “50 Hz mode”.

The UNBEATABLE boasts cutting-edge Rolls-Royce Marine engineering, automation and technology able to ensure safe sailing in all sea-weather and safe assistance and loading/unloading of equipment to/from oil platforms in even the most difficult seas.

Mrs. Alessandra Colonna Castagna cut the ribbon at 11:30 a.m. launching the “FD UNBEATABLE” at the Rosetti San Vitale shipyard in Ravenna directed by engineer Cesario Mondelli.

After delivery, which took place before the Authorities, Guests, Top Management, Yard Workmen and the Shipping Company with their families, the UNBEATABLE sailed out of the Port of Ravenna for Aberdeen, Scotland, where it will provide support and assistance to offshore platforms in the North Sea.
