This new decommissioning contract with Ithaca Energy will enable AF Offshore Decom to undertake the engineering, receipt, dismantling and recycling of the FPF-1 floating production platform in the UK sector of the North Sea. With a total weight of approximately 23,000 metric tons, the facility is scheduled to be received at the firm’s facility, AF Environmental Base Vats, this year.

This comes after Subsea7 was picked to provide off-station decommissioning services for the Alba floating storage unit (FSU) and the Greater Stella Area‘s FPF-1 production facility, approximately 230 kilometers east of Aberdeen.

The Ithaca Energy-operated Greater Stella Area, located in the heart of the Central Graben area of the Central North Sea, covers the StellaHarrierAbigail, and Vorlich producing fields. The oil production goes through the ConocoPhillips-operated NorPipe system and gas is exported via the Kellas Midstream-operated CATS system.

AF Offshore Decom highlighted: “This award is an important milestone for us and a strong recognition of our team’s experience and capability in delivering safe, efficient and sustainable decommissioning solutions, including for large floating offshore assets.

“A big thank you to Ithaca Energy for working with us, as well as to our colleagues and partners who continue to make projects like this possible. We look forward to working together on this new and exciting decommissioning project.”
