IWES and Frazer-Nash Partner Up for Offshore Wind

UK consultancy Frazer-Nash and the German Fraunhofer Institute for Wind Energy Systems (IWES) have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to collaborate in the offshore wind energy market.

The two parties signed the deal in Bremerhaven, Germany, under which they will work together on asset management and the research underpinning asset management good practice.

According to Frazer-Nash, the collaboration will help clients with performance analysis, digital asset strategies and implementation, and wind turbine reliability control, maintenance and testing.

IWES stated that building on the recent experience of delivering projects in partnership, the agreement recognizes the combination of competences that the organizations bring to add value to the offshore wind generation market.

“Fraunhofer IWES has a deep understanding of wind turbine systems, and specific expertise and capability in wind turbine performance, sensing, monitoring and reliability strategies; while Frazer-Nash has capability in systems engineering and asset management practice, plus experience of deploying digital twins and management tools for in-service high-value energy generation assets,” said Frazer-Nash Technical Research Manager Brian Gribben.

“Offered in combination, our joint expertise provides a very powerful proposition for potential clients within the sector.”
