Okinawa Island will host a symposium and workshop on ocean energy later this week as part of the clean energy partnership initiative by the governments of Japan and the United States.

This year’s ocean energy workshop, held annually since 2010, in accordance with the memorandum of understanding, signed by the Japanese Ministry of Economy Trade and Industry, the United States Department of Energy, Okinawa Prefecture, and the State of Hawaii, to develop and deploy clean and renewable energies known as the ‘Hawaii Okinawa Clean Energy Cooperation’, will take place in Kumejima, Okinawa Island.

It will offer an overview of Okinawa/Hawaii clean energy initiatives, ocean thermal energy conversion (OTEC) developments, along with worldwide updates on the technology.

The 7th Okinawa Hawaii Ocean Energy Symposium & Workshop will take place on September 16-17, 2016, at Gushikawa Rural Development Center.
