Japan: Utilities FY2013 LNG Usage Climbs 0.5 Percent

The ten regional electric power companies in Japan consumed 56.09 million tonnes of LNG in the year ended March, up 0.5 percent from a year earlier, according to the Federation of Electric Power Companies of Japan (FEPC).

The power companies bought 58.71 million tonnes of LNG in 2013/14, a rise of o.7 percent compared to the same period before.

Power companies account for two-thirds of total Japanese LNG imports.
