Japan’s METI: no spot LNG price data in May
Japan’s Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) said on Tuesday it could not release its monthly spot LNG price data as there were not enough trades in May.
“In accordance with Statistics Act, we can publish the price of the spot-LNG only in the cases where there are two or more reporters that imported spot-LNG,” METI informed in a statement posted on its website.
“If there is only one reporter or none at all, we will not publish a price,” it added.
This is the first time METI was not able to release its monthly spot LNG price data since it started publishing these reports in April of 2014.
Only spot LNG cargoes are taken into account in this assessments, excluding short, medium and long-term contract cargoes, as well as those linked to a particular price index.
