Jordan: NEPCO closes spot LNG tender

Jordan’s National Electric Power Company (NEPCO) closed a mid-December tender seeking two spot LNG cargoes for delivery in the first quarter of 2016.

Abdel Fattah Daradkeh, general director of NEPCO told Jordan Times that the Geneva-based trader Gunvor and Gas Natural of Spain have been selected as winners to deliver one cargo each.

According to the tender document, cargoes will be delivered to the 160,000 cbm FSRU Golar Eskimo that serves as Jordan’s import terminal in February and March on a DES (delivered ex-ship) basis.

Gas Natural will deliver its LNG cargo on February 13-14, 2016 while Gunvor is set to deliver its cargo in a March 24-25 window.

NEPCO has a two-year supply deal with Shell for the delivery of 38 cargoes of LNG from 2016 through 2017, but Daradkeh added that the company plans to issue a number of tenders seeking additional cargoes on the spot market.
