According to the engineering company, the study seeks to explore opportunities to improve the overall energy efficiency of the plant and reduce greenhouse gas emissions associated with the liquefaction facility.

KBR will assist GLNG in identifying potential modifications to boost the operational facility through improvements of thermal efficiency while also accounting for the associated reduction in carbon emissions.

This project will leverage the specialist energy, decarbonization and process optimization skills of KBR’s strategic and advisory consulting team, it said.

GLNG is a joint venture of Santos, Malaysia’s Petronas, France’s Total, and Korean Gas Corporation.

The 7.8 million tonnes per annum plant has been supplying Asian customers since 2015.
