Keel-Laying Ceremony for Martens Marine’s AHTS Vessel at Chinese Shipyard

On February 15th 2012, the keel-laying ceremony of Martens Marine’s 58.7 m AHTS Vessel YX3159 was held on slipway No.2 at Yuexin shipyard.

The vessel is built to ABS Class standards and includes following notations: “OFFSHORE SUPPORT VESSEL, AH, TOWING VESSEL, FIRE FIGHTING VESSEL CLASS 1”,AMS,and DPS-1. YX3159 is a KHIAM CHUAN MARINE (KCM) design vessel.

The vessel measures 58.7m in length, with a moulded breadth of 14.6m, and a moulded depth of 5.5m. The maximum draught is 4.75 m. The vessel can carry 42 men, 475 cubic meters of fuel oil, 230 cubic meters of fresh water, 187 cubic meters of dry bulk and 250 cubic meters of mud. Equipped with a 150-tonne line pull winch, the vessel can achieve a bollard pull of 65t. This AHTS can also achieve a speed of 13.5 knots.

YX3159 is the third of the 58.7 m AHTS vessels built by Yuexin for Martens Marine. The keel of the first and second vessel in the series, namely hull YX3157 and YX3158, had been laid last September and December 2011.

The last vessel YX3160 of the series is now in the block construction stage.
