Kleven to Build Fish Harvesting Vessel for DESS Aquaculture

Norway’s shipbuilding company Kleven has inked a contract with DESS Aquaculture Shipping, a joint venture company established by Marine Harvest Norway and Deep Sea Supply, to construct a fish harvesting vessel with an option for a second one.

The vessel is based on SALT 425 FHV design from Salt Ship Design and will be used to carry salmon from fish farms to processing plants.

The ship will be delivered from the company’s shipyard Myklebust Verft in March 2018.

“This is a new type of vessel for us, and we look forward to working closely with the ship owner, design company and equipment suppliers on this project,” Ståle Rasmussen, CEO of Kleven, said.

Myklebust Verft’s order list also includes five fishing vessels being built for international owners and two live fish carriers for a Norwegian owner.
