Kongsberg Maritime Gets Seismic Vessel Systems Contract from MHI

Mitsubishi Heavy Industries (MHI) has awarded KONGSBERG (KOG) owned company Kongsberg Maritime contracts of more than 50 MUSD for technical systems delivery to two new Seismic survey vessels ordered by Petroleum Geo Services (PGS).

The scope of supply covers integrated navigation systems, Dynamic Positioning (DP) and thruster systems, and extensive back-deck handling systems for PGS Ramform Titan-class vessels 3 & 4.

The delivery falls under Kongsberg Maritime’s so-called ‘Full Picture’ delivery strategy. The scope of supply mirrors previous deliveries for the MHI built PGS Ramform Titan-class vessels 1 & 2, which are due for delivery in 2013.

The Ramform Titan-class vessels 3 & 4 under this new contract were optioned by PGS in October 2012 and are scheduled for delivery in 2015 respectively.

Geir Håøy, President, Kongsberg Maritime commented: “Kongsberg Maritime shows real innovation by offering solutions and products to make seismic operations more effective, whilst also enhancing vessel management.

“As an established single supplier for such a wide range of innovative systems, we are in a strong position to support the expanding seismic market and are well positioned to capitalise on market investment in the coming years.”
