Lamprell hands over newbuild jack-up to Shelf Drilling

Lamprell, a provider of fabrication, engineering and contracting services to the energy industry, has completed a construction of the Shelf Chaopraya jack-up drilling rig.

The builder said on Friday it delivered the rig to its owner Shelf Drilling. The rig will sail within the next few days for deployment by Shelf at its drilling location, offshore Thailand.

The Shelf Chaopraya has been designed according to the LeTourneau Super 116E (Enhanced) Class design and features high specification offshore drilling technology, as well as accommodation for up to 160 people.

With this delivery, the Lamprell Group noted it has now completed and delivered a total of 16 Super 116E new build jack-up drilling rigs to its clients.

Commenting on the delivery, Jim Moffat, Chief Executive Officer, Lamprell, said: “I am pleased to be marking the completion and delivery of this rig to Shelf. This is a busy period for the Group as this is the second major project that we have delivered in a matter of weeks. In light of this, our project team has performed very well to deliver this project to such high standards and as per the client’s requirements.”
