Latvia eyes Lithuanian LNG

Latvia has reportedly shown interest in buying gas from LIthuania’s LNG terminal in Klaipeda if the price is right.

Dana Reizniece-Ozola, Latvia’s Minister of Economy said the infrastructure is in place, with the Klaipeda-Kiemėnai pipeline also to be completed by the end of the year, but the prices need to be competitive, local media reported.

Latvia’s Minister visited Lithuania’s LNG terminal after meeting the country’s Energy Minister Rokas Masiulis who said that there are no obstacles for Lithuanian gas to flow to Latvia.

However, the price competitiveness could be the issue as well as the long-term gas supply deals Latvian companies still have with the Russian giant Gazprom.
