Linjebygg Offshore Wins Draugen Platform Contract (Norway)

Today Linjebygg Offshore has been awarded a contract for the delivery of insulation, scaffolding and surface treatment services to the Draugen platform.

The contract between Aibel and Linjebygg Offshore (LBO) has a total value of around NOK 600 million (USD 107.7 mln) over five years. In addition to the delivery of ISO services (insulation, scaffolding and surface treatment) LBO will also assist Aibel with access technology, engineering, equipment and materials. Work will commence immediately after the New Year.

Experience from Draugen

In February this year Shell awarded Aibel the framework agreement for modifications to the Draugen platform. The contract, which has a duration of six years with options for two plus two years, is the largest and lengthiest contract Aibel has ever been awarded.

Executive Vice President for Modifications with Aibel, Nils Arne Hatleskog, welcomes LBO as subcontractor on Draugen.

“This agreement gives us a reputable partner with experience from previous work on Draugen. I am confident that we will deliver excellent results together,” he says.

Local side-effects

Aibel’s work on Draugen includes both large and small modification projects on the platform. The purpose is to maintain the platform’s integrity, increase production and facilitate further development for Draugen.

The contract with LBO, which has its headquarters in Molde, will also have a positive effect on local businesses. The company says that this will provide work for a number of suppliers in their region.
