Liquid Robotics Appoints New Executive Vice President of Global Sales

Liquid Robotics, the market leader in long-mission ocean drones announced that Daniel J. Middleton, a highly accomplished, global sales leader with more than 20 years in the telecommunications and data networking industry, is joining Liquid Robotics as executive vice president of global sales & business development. His appointment is effective immediately.

Prior to joining Liquid Robotics, Mr. Middleton was executive vice president of sales at Silver Spring Networks where he led the global sales efforts to build out the next generation of “Internet of Things” infrastructure for smart grid technology. In his seven-year tenure, he was responsible for the global expansion that helped establish Silver Spring Networks as the worldwide leader in smart grid technology.

Before Silver Spring Networks, he had an illustrious career as General Manager and Senior Vice President of Riverstone Networks, a leading IP data networking company. He joined Riverstone in 2004 to turn it around and expand its IP networking business. This success resulted in Lucent Technologies $207 million purchase of Riverstone Networks in April 2006.

For the 10 years prior to joining Riverstone, Mr. Middleton held various executive positions with Nortel Networks. His leadership included roles such as the Vice President for the Enterprise Data businesses across EMEA, Vice President of IP Technical Sales and Support in the Americas, Global Marketing and Business Development VP for the Cable TV market. Additionally, He ran Nortel Asia’s efforts with the Broadband industry’s expansion from video into new two-way, interactive solutions.

Mr. Middleton holds a Bachelors of Mechanical Engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology and a MBA from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
