Lithuania to get Norwegian LNG cargo

GasLog’s newbuild LNG carrier, GasLog Salem, which departed from Statoil’s Hammerfest plant in Norway on Tuesday, is about to deliver a shipment of the chilled gas to Lithuania.

The 155,000 cbm carrier is expected to dock at the FSRU Independence, located in the Port of Klaipeda around September 13, port data shows.

The FSRU, owned by Höegh LNG, started serving as Lithuania’s first import terminal last year in order to reduce the country’s dependence on Russian gas supplies.

Statoil has last year signed a mid-term contract with Lithuania’s state-owned gas trader Litgas to supply about 6-7 LNG cargoes per annum (0.5 billion cubic meters) to the FSRU.
