Lithuanian LNG competence center opened

Lithuanian LNG cluster said that the LNG competence center in the seaport of Klaipeda opened its doors on December 28.

The center is a result of the efforts by the Lithuanian LNG cluster to create a number of future specialists, which is essential for the development of the LNG market in Klaipėda.

Set up at the Klaipėda University (KU) the center aims “to provide the students with the possibility to model the technological processes of the LNG terminal,” said Algirdas Čebatorius the director of Emerson Process Management for the Baltic countries, part of the LNG cluster.

The companies will also be able to use the infrastructure of the LNG competence center for training purposes. It is expected that this will contribute to the expansion of business competitiveness in the field of LNG technology.

The Lithuanian cluster includes a number of international companies, which are interested in the opportunities to expand on the LNG market.

Members of the cluster are Klaipėdos Nafta, Vakarų Laivų Gamykla, Klaipėda University, Lithuanian Maritime Academy, Klaipeda Science and Technology Park, Lithuanian Energy Institute, Klaipeda Free Economic Zone and the international partners Emerson and SGS. The cluster has recently been joined by the classification society DNV GL.
