LNG buses go on trial in Slovakia

The Slovak Republic is becoming the third country in Europe to get acquainted with the LNG buses.

The Solbus Solcity 12 LNG buses were presented to potential customers, users and municipal authorities in the Slovak town of Dunajská Streda, Gazprom Export said in a statement.

The LNG bus and the mobile refueling station of Gazprom Germania performed the LNG fueling process, filling the 367-litres-tank with approx. 35 kg of LNG (maximum capacity 320kg).

In the coming days LNG Solbus together with the mobile refueling station will be demonstrated to potential customers not only in Dunajská Streda but also in the towns of Zvolen, Prievidza, and Trnava. During these upcoming days the Solbus Solcity12 LNG will be integrated and tested in the daily operation of different Slovakian bus operators in order to make them experience the benefits of LNG-fuelled buses.

The Solbus Solcity 12 LNG is equipped with a Cummins ISL G; 8,9 l. engine wth max. 280-320 horse powers and a 320kg LNG fuel tank which allows for the traveling distance of up to 600 kilometers.

First buses of that type are already being delivered to serve the city lines in Polish Olsztyn and Warsaw. Liquefied natural gas to fuel the fleet is supplied by Gazprom Germania.
