LNG-powered PCTC launched in Nantong, China

United European Car Carriers (UECC) recently launched the TBN Auto Eco, a dual-fuel LNG pure car and truck carrier (PCTC) at NACKS shipyard in Nantong, China.

According to the Lloyd’s Register statement, the vessel, built to LR class, is the first of its kind with an LNG propulsion system, and the first of two LR classed dual-fuel LNG PCTCs with 1A Super Finnish/Swedish ice class.

The vessel is set for sea trials where its dual-fuel capabilities will be tested as engines will run solely on LNG.

TBN Auto Eco is scheduled for delivery to UECC, a company jointly owned by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK) and Wallenius Line, on September 2, LR said.
