Lundin hires two AHTS vessels in Malaysia

Swedish oil and gas exploration company Lundin Petroleum has chartered two anchor handlers for its operations in Malaysia.

The vessels, owned by Malaysia’s Jasa Merin, have been contracted by Lundin Malaysia, a subsidiary of Lundin Petroleum.

Under the contract Jasa Merin will provide two Anchor Handling Tug Supply vessels, scheduled for deployment in mid-June 2014.

The vessels will stay with Lundin on a firm contract of twenty five months. The contract may be extended for a further one year period at the discretion of Lundin.

The value of the charters is estimated at $32.7 million or RM 104.5 million for the primary term of the contract.

Lundin in Malaysia

Lundin is making  progress with its Bertam development, offshore Malaysia. The construction of the offshore platform contracted to TH Heavy Engineering is expected to be completed before the end of the year. The Bertam project will use the Ikdam FPSO which will be renamed the Bertam FPSO.

The Bertam FPSO is currently undergoing modification and upgrade works at the Keppel shipyard in Singapore which will also be completed by the end of this year. Development drilling on Bertam will begin this summer, with first oil from Bertam in the second quarter of 2015. The Bertam oil field, offshore Peninsular Malaysia, received development approval from Petronas in October 2013.

Lundin Petroleum has plans drill three exploration wells and one appraisal well in Malaysia in 2014.
