Maersk Line Limited Names New CEO (USA)

The Board of Directors of Maersk Line, Limited (MLL) announced yesterday that it has named J. Russell Bruner the next President and CEO of Maersk Line, Limited. Mr. Bruner will succeed John F. Reinhart, who will step down on January 31, 2014 to become the CEO and Executive Director of the Port of Virginia.

Russ has the experience, values and vision to lead MLL into the future,” said Admiral Hal Gehman (U.S. Navy, retired), Chairman of Maersk Line, Limited. “As a member of MLL’s board since 2010, Russ has a strong understanding of the company, its strategy and customers. He is an intuitive leader and intelligent businessman, possessing the knowledge and qualities to be MLL’s next leader.

Mr. Bruner joined Maersk in 1989 and has been the President and Chief Executive Officer of Maersk, Inc. since 2004. He also has been an Executive Vice President of the A.P. Moller – Maersk Group since 2006. Mr. Bruner has held various leadership positions in Maersk’s container businesses, both within the U.S. and internationally.

A native of Baltimore, Maryland, Mr. Bruner attended Bridgewater College in Virginia. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan Executive Program and Harvard Business School’s Advanced Management Program. Mr. Bruner serves on the Bridgewater College Board of Trustees and the University of Denver Intermodal Transportation Institute Board of Directors.

Mr. Bruner looks forward to joining MLL executives and colleagues early in 2014 to begin working with the team in his new role.
