Magellan Spirit anchored off Sines

Teekay’s 165,500 cbm LNG carrier Magellan Spirit is currently anchored offshore Portugal’s Port of Sines, where REN’s import terminal is located.

The tanker will probably unload the cargo it was carrying from Nigeria’s Bonny liquefaction plant at the Sines terminal and depart on January 11, as port data reveals.

It has been anchored off Sines since February 6, waiting for the 160,000 cbm Golar Crystal to unload.

Magellan Spirit ran aground on January 5 offshore Nigeria, fully loaded with a cargo from the Bonny plant.

The tanker was freed at the end of last month via ship-to-ship operation with Excelerate Energy’s Excellence in order to lighten it after salvage attempts have failed.

The vessel than backloaded the cargo after undergoing inspection operations. It was reportedly on its way to Gwangyang LNG terminal in South Korea.

Magellan Spirit is chartered by Swiss company Vitol.
