Majesty of the Seas Cancels Cruise amid Oil Leak

Royal Caribbean’s cruise ship Majesty of the Seas had to cancel the April 27 sailing as it was sent to an unplanned dry dock.

Namely, the ship is reported to have sprung a leak of bio-friendly oil and is being sent for repairs to Freeport, Bahamas to remove the issue.

Royal Caribbean’s Spokesperson Cynthia Martinez confirmed to World Maritime News that the ship will be taken out of service due to repairs.

“In order to complete necessary repairs to Majesty of the Seas, Royal Caribbean will take the ship out of service for one sailing. Because of this, it was necessary to cancel the April 27 sailing. We are deeply sorry for this unexpected development in our guests’ vacation,” Martinez said.

The duration of the repairs has not been disclosed.

Majesty of the Seas is a Sovereign-class cruise ship and is the oldest ship in the cruise line’s fleet operating since 1992.
