Malaysia: Gardline and AGSB Formalise Joint Venture Agreement

Gardline and Asian Geos Sdn Bhd (AGSB) formalised their joint venture agreement in Kuala Lumpur on July 18. The ceremony was witnessed by the Deputy Finance Minister of Malaysia, Datuk Dr Awang Adek Hussein.

AGSB is currently among the leading offshore geotechnical investigation and survey services providers to the oil and gas and marine-related industries in Malaysia and Asian region.

This strategic alliance will see the two companies sharing their engineering and technical resources in order to pursue international offshore oil and gas projects.

The joint-development of a worldwide geotechnical venture between Gardline and AGSB will provide the new grouping the ability to provide a full range of services on a diverse number of platforms. The newly-developed operational flexibility will enable the new business grouping to compete on a global basis and provide an increased level of service depth within the local Malaysian market particularly in deepwater.

AG Managing Director Dato’ Ir. Mohd Helmi Zulkawi said “this strategic global partnership underlines AG’s geotechnical expertise and Gardline Geosciences’ confidence in our company, that will allow us to further expand in the deepwater segment and enhance our niche service offerings in Malaysia and globally”.

Gardline Geosciences Managing Director Eric Zon said the complementary relationship between the two companies would see AG focusing on the territorial waters of Asia Pacific (excluding Australia), the Middle East, East Africa and the Caspian Sea.
