Malaysia’s April LNG exports drop

Malaysia exported 1.81 million tonnes of LNG in April, a drop of 13.3 percent as compared to the same month a year ago, data by Malaysia’s Department of Statistics shows.

The country received RM3.2 billion for the liquefied natural gas exports in April, down 48.2 percent on year, according to the data.

April LNG exports dropped 22.8 percent when compared to March.

Japan, the biggest buyer of Malaysian LNG, imported 1.13 million tonnes of the chilled gas in April from Malaysia, down 13.7 percent on year, the data said.

Liquefied natural gas exports contributed 5.3 percent to Malaysia’s total exports in April.
