MCG Begins New Multi-Client 2D Survey in Barents Sea, Norway

MCG announces the commencement of a new multi-client 2D survey, MCG1301, in the southwestern Norwegian Barents Sea.

This is the fifth consecutive year MCG acquires multiclient 2D in the western Barents Sea. The survey is a consistent 4×4 km grid and will be around 8,400 km. This will bring MCG’s high quality, long offset, multi-client 2D library in this region up to a total of 35,000 km.

The survey covers a fairly under-explored area where Upper Cretaceous low stand fans and wedges and Tertiary play types are the main targets. Exciting wells to be drilled this year in the area are the Darwin and Bønna.

The seismic data will be acquired by M/V Geolog Dmitri Nalivkin using a 10km solid streamer. The processing will be performed by PSS-Geo in Oslo.
