Built in 2009, the 13,965 dwt vessel was bought to service the needs of McKeil’s client Petro-Canada Lubricants Inc. (PCLI).

The Panamanian-flagged Topaz measures 137 meters in length and 20 meters in width. The chemical tanker was previously owned by Turkish Transal Denizcilik, according to data provided by VesselsValue.

Its journey originated in Singapore and continued to Malaysia where the ship loaded a cargo for delivery to the Mediterranean. The tanker made a brief stop in France and arrived in Canada recently to begin its Canadianization process.

Topaz was then officially renamed Hinch Spirit on May 27.

With this newest addition to its fleet of vessels including bulkers, cement carriers, and tankers, as well as tugs, barges and workboats, McKeil said it expands its offering and is poised for additional growth.

“The acquisition of the Hinch Spirit (Topaz) supports our commitment to growth and provides expanded opportunities to our crew,” Captain Scott Bravener, President of McKeil Marine Limited, commented.

The Hinch Spirit (Topaz) will trade throughout the Great Lakes, St. Lawrence River and the Eastern Seaboard.
